Controlled demolition systematically demolishes a structure in a planned way where high control measures of safety and order are essential, controlled demolition ensures that disturbance to the surrounding structures and area is kept to a minimum.
Safety is achieved by removing sections of the building in a timed process to ensure that no damage comes to the surrounding buildings, and that dust and debris can be cleared in an orderly way.
Controlled demolition does not involve explosives and bulldozers as there is always significant damage to the surrounding area through large volumes of debris and dust, as well as potential safety issues.
The Brokk robotic demolition machines enable us to carry out the work in small, confined spaces that would be hard and dangerous to reach with traditional demolition methods. The robotic demolition method also boasts a much faster productivity rate compared to traditional methods.
With concrete bursting we create a series of pilot holes within concrete, brick and stone surfaces. Once the holes have been drilled a hydraulic burster is then inserted and expands inside the concrete, splitting it apart as it does so. This is much quieter than when using Brokk equipment, and is ideally used in ‘live’ buildings or residential areas, although it will take significantly longer.
