Track saw, diamond drilling and Brokk robotic demolition Bristol
A current project in the city center of Bristol involves the refurbishment of the old NHS building, where our responsibility was to create service riser openings extending from the sixth level down to the lower ground level. We were required to cut 13 service risers, each measuring 1.8m x 4m x 450mm across six floors. Due to limited access for a floor saw, we utilized a track saw for the cutting process, achieving a depth of 450mm with a 1.2m diameter blade. To prevent overcuts on the remaining slab, we diamond drilled the corners. A Brokk 100 machine was transported up six flights of stairs to the work site to facilitate the concrete breaking for removal. The operations commenced from the top floor and proceeded downward, utilizing the Brokk machine for slab demolition, thereby minimizing manual labor, reducing the risk of Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS), and eliminating the need for crash decks. All work areas were securely fenced off to ensure safety, and all equipment employed was electrically powered, making it ideal for indoor operations.
