Diamond track and wire sawing Birmingham Train Station
Birmingham Train Station Retaining Wall Removal
This project involved the precision cutting and removal of a 1-metre-thick retaining wall, constructed in the 1800s, as part of infrastructure upgrades at a new train station in Birmingham.
Due to restricted access windows trackside, we were required to complete all works within a 24-hour period. To achieve this, we implemented a split shift system with dedicated 12-hour day and night teams working continuously across a full weekend.
Scope of Works:
Diamond track sawing through 1m-thick engineering brickwork to ensure clean, accurate cuts.
Diamond wire sawing to segment the wall into manageable pieces for safe and efficient removal.
Diamond core drilling to prevent overcutting at intersections and maintain structural integrity.
24-hour continuous operation over the weekend to meet access limitations.
Trackside work in a high-risk, time-sensitive environment.
Strict adherence to schedule and safety protocols with zero delays or issues reported.
All work was completed on time and to specification, demonstrating our capability to deliver under pressure in complex, high-risk environments with limited access and tight deadlines.
